David W. Cornhill (B.Sc.(Hons.), MBA)
Mr. Cornhill will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board while serving as interim co-Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Cornhill's mandate as interim co-CEO is the continued implementation of AltaGas' strategy; overseeing the asset disposition process as well as providing leadership to the Executive Committee on all corporate functions including the integration of WGL.
Mr. Cornhill is Chairman of the Board, a position he has held since AltaGas Services Inc.’s (AltaGas’ predecessor) inception in 1994. Mr. Cornhill is a founding shareholder of AltaGas Services Inc. and was Chief Executive Officer from 1994 to 2016. Prior to forming AltaGas Services Inc., Mr. Cornhill served in the capacities of Vice President, Finance and Administration, and Treasurer at Alberta and Southern Gas Co. Ltd. from 1991 to 1993 and as President and Chief Executive Officer until 1994.
Mr. Cornhill is an experienced leader in the business community and is a strong supporter of communities and community collaboration, investment and enhancement.
Mr. Cornhill serves on the Board of Governors at Western University and is a member of the Ivey Advisory Board at Western. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree and a Master of Business Administration degree, both from Western, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Western in 2015.
Phillip R. Knoll, P.Eng
Mr. Knoll will continue to serve on the Board of Directors while serving as interim co-Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Knoll, in his role as interim co-CEO, will oversee and lead all operational aspects of AltaGas business, including continuing to advance AltaGas' capital projects, as well as oversight over Environment, Health, Safety, Security & Sustainability matters.
Mr. Knoll is a Professional Engineer and the President of Knoll Energy Inc. Prior thereto, he was CEO of Corridor Resources Inc. from 2010 to 2014. Mr. Knoll was a director of AltaGas Utility Group Inc. from 2005 to 2009. His other roles included Group Vice President, Duke Energy Gas Transmission, Chair, Management Committee and President for Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline, as well as senior roles at Westcoast Energy Inc., TransCanada Pipelines Limited and Alberta Natural Gas Company Ltd.
Mr. Knoll has over 35 years of varied experience in the energy sector, primarily related to energy infrastructure businesses.
Mr. Knoll holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the Technical University of Nova Scotia in Chemical Engineering.
Tim Watson (CFA, ICD.D)
In his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Watson is responsible for the overall financial strategy of AltaGas as well as mergers, acquisitions and corporate development. Mr. Watson spent 25 years in investment banking, based in Calgary, Houston, San Francisco and Toronto. His experience includes extensive knowledge of global financial markets and significant mergers and acquisitions experience across the entire energy value chain. Mr. Watson is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Director of the Institute of Corporate Directors, and he holds an Honors Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Corine Bushfield (B.Comm, CPA, CA)
Ms. Bushfield joined AltaGas Ltd in 2016 and is responsible for corporate-wide functions including procurement, human resources and information technology. Ms. Bushfield is a Chartered Professional Accountant with more than 20 years of oil and gas industry experience. Over her career, Ms. Bushfield has worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the auditing and transaction services groups, Encana Corporation as Vice President and Assistant Controller, and most recently with Long Run Exploration as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Bushfield holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Adrian P. Chapman
Bringing more than 36 years of leadership experience in the energy industry, Mr. Chapman has served in a variety of management and executive roles during his career with Washington Gas, including as President and Chief Operating Officer since October 2009. As President and CEO, he is responsible for overseeing all functions and activities of the Washington, D.C.-based regulated natural gas utility such as operations, customer service, engineering, construction, field operations, safety, rates, gas acquisition, information technology and human resources. Mr. Chapman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from George Mason University.
Brad Grant (B.Comm, LLB, MBA)
In his role as Executive Vice-President, Chief Legal Officer, Mr. Grant oversees and provides legal counsel to corporate management on all legal matters. Mr. Grant has extensive experience in the petroleum and natural gas and power sectors and was formerly managing partner of the Calgary office of a national law firm. He is a director of the Canadian Energy Law Foundation and is Chair for Inn from the Cold Calgary. Mr. Grant holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a joint Bachelor of Laws and Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of British Columbia.
John Lowe (B.A., LLB)
Mr. Lowe’s duties include strategy, government affairs, First Nations, law and internal audit across the organization. He began his employment at AltaGas in 2011 as President of AltaGas’ utility operations in Canada and the United States. He later became responsible for Corporate Development, during which time he oversaw the acquisitions of the Blythe Energy Center, Petrogas, and the development of energy export projects. Mr. Lowe has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry as counsel and in business over the course of his career.
Randy Toone (B.Sc., P. Eng)
Mr. Toone joined AltaGas as Executive Vice President, Gas in 2016 and was appointed Acting President, Gas in 2018. In this role, he provides leadership for the commercial and business development teams within the gas division, aligning divisional activities with AltaGas’ strategic direction and growth targets.
His experience with AltaGas began in 2003 working in the extraction and transmission business. He progressed his career at AltaGas through senior management and executive roles in both the Gas and Utilities segments before leaving the company to pursue interests abroad. In addition to AltaGas Ltd, Mr. Toone has worked with CVS Midstream as Chief Operating Officer and as Country Manager for TAG OIL in New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Calgary and attended the Executive Program at the Ivey Business School at Western University.
