AltaGas donates to the Women’s Resource Society in Fort St. John

January 24, 2017

The Fort St. John Women's Resource Society provides a supportive environment, promotes awareness regarding violence against women with rigorous campaigns and events as well as community workshops and information sessions, free of charge, on various issues pertinent to low-income residents. They also provide necessities such as food and shelter to those in need.

Domestic violence threatens the lives of millions of North Americans each year and crosses all ethnic, racial, sexual orientation, religious and socioeconomic lines. Over the past year, the organization has seen a rise in men utilizing some of these services. It’s important to remember that abuse is not gender-based and men can also be victims.

AltaGas recently provided a $2,500 donation to the Society, which will be used to stock the shelves with food to help with the increasing demand in the community. “In our current economic state, every donation, big or small, counts towards helping feeding families and individuals who need it most.  The contribution made to our Society will go towards hungry tummies this Christmas Season, thank you!,” says Phallon Stoutenburg, Outreach Coordinator, Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.
