Earlier this morning, Dec. 13, the close-knit workforce at the resident AltaGas/Blythe Energy power plant joined a select few in industry by being formally designated a coveted VPP (Voluntary Protection Programs) Star safety certification status.

There are only 66 locations, now to include the Blythe Energy Center, out of millions of employer worksites to be recognized with such a distinction.

“It’s an honor for me to be here on behalf of the CAL/OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) organization to welcome your facility to the VPP’s Star side,” stated VPP Star Program Director Iraj Pourmehraban. “This is a partnership between government, management, and union to make sure employees are safe at their workplace. Thank you for inviting me, and keep up the good work.”
