AltaGas has 54 MW of gas-fired peaking capacity in Alberta which provides fuel diversity to the conventional power business and partial backstopping to any coal-fired outages. Included in the 54 MW is a 15 MW cogeneration facility at the Harmattan Gas Plant that creates steam for processing gas and electricity for on-site use with any excess going to the Alberta power grid.
