AltaGas is proud to be a part of the communities where we live, work and do business. Our employees have strong ties to the community and it shows through their generous contributions to community initiatives such as the United Way where we have been a Platinum level sponsor for 16 of our 18 years in business.
In 2007, AltaGas embarked on another major initiative becoming a partner with Cross Country Canada. As a result, AltaGas will help support elite-level coaching and associated services necessary for the success of Canada's National and Para-Nordic Cross-Country Ski Teams. More importantly, the partnership ensures the success of cross-country skiing well into the future by supporting the next generation of athletes.
We also support initiatives that help make our employees and the communities in which they live safer. AltaGas has partnered with STARS to help bring emergency medical services to all of our field locations in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. We are passionate about initiatives that better the lives of people in our communities.
How we give
At AltaGas we strive to excel as responsible corporate citizens by giving back to the communities where we live, work and do business.
All requests for support, financial or otherwise, are carefully evaluated by our Corporate Donations Committee to ensure that we support those organizations most in need, and whose values most closely reflect our own; following the guidelines listed below:
Eligible Funding Criteria:
- Health and Social Services: Must affect a significant number of people for the purposes of research, emergency equipment, and/or facilities.
- Education: Community-based learning initiatives and/or institutions that encourage and foster continuous learning environments for people of all ages to reach their potential.

Sponsorship: In support of artistic initiatives that offer access to the arts, particularly when combined with education, which increase quality of life in the community.
Ineligible Organizations:
- Individuals looking for personal benefit
- Religious, sectarian or political and organizations that discriminate
- Service or fraternal clubs; advocacy and lobbying initiatives
- Trips, tours or conferences
- National appeals
- Programs already funded by United Way; as they are already funded through AltaGas' Platinum Level sponsorship of the United Way for 16 of our 18 years in business.
- Advertising, memberships, ticket sales or lotteries.
- Mass mail, telephone or other paid solicitation methods through a third party fundraiser
