Our business:
The Energy Services segment consists of two main components: an energy management business providing energy consulting and supply management services and arranging gas and power supply for non-residential end-users; and a gas services business buying and reselling energy (natural gas & electricity), transportation and storage. The energy management business operates under the name of ECNG Energy Limited Partnership while the gas and power services business operates as AltaGas Energy Limited Partnership.

AltaGas is a well-positioned national energy management services provider to non-residential energy users, including hotel chains, agricultural associations, hospital associations, mid-size manufacturers and municipalities. We allow customers to reduce their exposure to natural gas and electricity price volatility and match their energy supply contracting practices with their risk tolerance and budget objectives.

AltaGas is an experienced energy marketer and full service provider of gas and power. AltaGas is licensed to provide a full range of energy products and services and retail billing options to a diverse group of commercial, industrial and aggregation partners. AltaGas supplies it's own generated electricity, as well as, third party natural gas and electricity to it's end-users. AltaGas also markets natural gas for producers, and buys and sells storage, transportation and transmission capacity. Our gas & power services business is conducted under the AltaGas Energy Limited Partnership name out of our Calgary and Burnaby offices.
A look at AltaGas’ Energy Services segment:
- Offers proactive management of gas and electricity costs in volatile energy markets across Canada
- Brings together buyers and sellers of gas, transportation and storage, earning locked-in margins on a portfolio of back-to-back contracts.
- Adds value across AltaGas’ business segments by managing gas supply for Power Generation for its gas-fired peaking assets, marketing produced electricity, marketing natural gas on behalf of Field Gathering and Processing producers, and arranging gas supplies through AltaGas' Empress extraction plants to increase throughput at those plants.
- More than 1,200 energy contracts with customers across Canada.
- 95 percent renewal rate of energy contracts in 2006, which include a diverse portfolio of long-term, fixed margin and fee-for-service contracts.
