Reporting to the Operations Supervisor for the Power Division, this position is responsible for the overall performance of all Southern Alberta Gas Fired Power Generation assets.
Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate and control the safe and efficient operation of all scheduled and unscheduled work, including operations, repairs and maintenance;
- Identify and scope out opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs, and eliminate downtime;
- Troubleshoot and repair/resolve process problems;
- Perform superior housekeeping, performance monitoring and maintenance activities;
- Understand and perform safety, environmental and regulatory responsibilities, such as hazard identification, emergency response, and implement safe working practices and procedures;
- Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance, and supervisory staff;

Participate in and provide input in the preparation of annual operating and maintenance plan.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience, preferably with natural gas engines, knowledge in natural gas processes, electrical generation and various electrical systems;
- Journeyman certified Heavy Duty Mechanic or Automotive Mechanic.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite;
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s license;
- Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of safety practices and principles related to operational and maintenance activities.
