AltaGas is an energy infrastructure business with a focus on natural gas, power and regulated utilities. AltaGas is currently seeking a contract communications generalist to cover a year-long maternity leave.

AltaGas requires an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated individual to join our Treasury team.  Reporting to the Assistant Treasurer, the Manager Treasury will ensure that both the short and long term financing needs of the business are met while maintaining an overall focus on shareholder value creation.  Treasury plays an important role in the strategic objective of optimizing the capital structure. 

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare Board, CEO and Executive Committee financing updates;
  • Assist with all financings on an as needed basis to ensure liquidity and flexibility, including coordination of activities of external parties including external legal counsel, auditors, and bankers;
  • Assist in the negotiation and administration of financing arrangements (including compliance reporting);
  • Financial modeling and forecasting of capital structure and relevant credit ratios;
  • Prepare rating agency presentations and review rating agency reports;
  • Prepare financing sections of AltaGas’ annual strategic plan and budget;
  • Analyze cross-company financial exposures and prepare recommendations;
  • Treasury reporting including pension analysis, various treasury reports and treasury sections for annual and quarterly external disclosure;
  • Provide support for cash management activities including: daily reports, cash forecasting, investing, borrowing, short term financing, and cheque/ wire runs; 
  • Assist in training and development within Treasury group.


  • 5 years’ experience within a Treasury or Corporate Finance group preferable;
  • Bachelor level university educated preferably with a finance / economics focus;
  • CFA/CA/CGA/CMA or MBA would be viewed favourably;
  • Ability to think independently, critically, and analytically while maintaining both a macro and micro level perspective;
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills;
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg would be considered an asset.
