Reporting to the Senior Vice President Finance and CFO, this position will be responsible for creating and implementing the overall technology vision and strategy and lead an organization-wide partnership that will build new systems and optimize current systems to align with AltaGas’ future goals. The successful incumbent is required to demonstrate strong leadership, strategic and intellectual agility and will have proven expertise in both business and technical facets of this role.

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure Information Technology resources and priorities are aligned to drive the success of the business.
  • Build and lead a successful, scalable technology organization
  • Mentor and develop the technology team and lead recruiting efforts to expand the organization;
  • Assess product development tradeoffs, find creative solutions to problems, and establish and meet delivery schedules;
  • Develop and implement long-term architectural direction;
  • Oversee program management of all department projects including resource planning, process, milestone communication and scope management;
  • Direct the prioritization, analysis, design, development testing, and release of all systems to the production environment;
  • Work with executive management to understand business drivers, business requirements, and competitive issues that may impact division strategies;
  • Create  vision for a technology organization; inspire and align technology leaders and teams to execute this vision;
  • Effectively balance strategy with urgency, and simultaneously manage the delivery of results in a growing and fast-paced environment;
  • Establish and ensure compliance with strong corporate IT governance practices.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent;
  • Advanced technical degree and/or Master’s level university degree would be considered an asset;
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in technology leadership and implementing IT strategy;
  • Hands on experience overseeing the development of corporate standards, technology architecture and technology evaluation;
  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing cross-functional teams in a fast growth company;
  • Extensive knowledge of planning, creating and implementing the IT vision and strategy;
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and on budget;
  • Experience as a business-focused technology leader, managing multiple IT projects that enable the organization to drive efficiency, utilize technology as a competitive enabler and enhance the bottom line;
  • Ability to develop effective and credible business relationships with partners throughout the company;
  • Skilled at managing technology tradeoffs, establishing hardware and software platforms for long term viability, implementing industry standard tools and managing data management challenges;
  • Demonstrated ability to energize people and teams, and create cross-functional cooperation;
  • Previous experience working in a diverse Technology environment that is co-shared with Divisional Business units;
  • Extensive knowledge in designing and implementing an Enterprise Methodology and appropriate technical solutions.
