Contracts Administrator

Reporting to the Manager Commodity Risk, this position will be responsible for administering and controlling contract processes and applying best practice controls while maintaining strong working relationships with legal, credit and the front office, as well as outside business partners for energy services and power.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Initiate, administer and track new customer contracts from first draft until fully executed;
  • Maintain and amend existing energy and derivative contracts;
  • Manage assignments and novations, amalgamations et al for energy services and power;
  • Develop and maintain contract documentation processes and controls that are easily implemented and auditable;
  • Deliver best in class services in terms of accuracy and timeliness, which must be in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies;
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with legal, credit and the front office, including outside business partners to administer the contract process;
  • Participate in bi-weekly contracts meeting with legal, credit and front office;
  • Maintain accurate counterparty information in EnCompass database and contract file;
  • Request and administer Business Associate numbers within EnCompass;
  • Administer the confirmation process for gas physicals, foreign exchange and power swaps in a timely fashion.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary certificate/diploma in Business Administration, Paralegal or Office Administration; 
  • Minimum one year of contract administration experience is preferable, specifically within the energy industry;
  • Organized & process oriented - Ability to develop contract documentation, control processes and accurately track status of unexecuted contracts;
  • Negotiating skills - Ability to negotiate with various counterparties and internal customers to administer and track new customer contracts from first draft until fully executed.
