AltaGas is proud to be a part of the communities where we live, work and serve. Our employees have strong ties to the community and it shows through their generous contributions to community initiatives such as the United Way where we have been a Platinum level sponsor for 14 of our 16 years in business.
In 2007, AltaGas embarked on another major initiative becoming a partner with Cross Country Canada. As a result, AltaGas will help support elite-level coaching and associated services necessary for the success of Canada's National and Para-Nordic Cross-Country Ski Teams. More importantly, the partnership ensures the success of cross-country skiing well into the future by supporting the next generation of athletes.
We also support initiatives that help make our employees and the communities in which they live safer. AltaGas has partnered with STARS to help bring emergency medical services to all of our field locations in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. We are passionate about initiatives that better the lives of people in our communities.
How we give
AltaGas has three main areas of concentration when considering community funding. They are:
Health and Social Services
We support research, education, emergency equipment and facilities-related funding.
Typical eligible funding requests come from:
- Hospitals, public health centres, medical research
- Fire and rescue, ambulance and police services
- Health-based charities at the community level
- Organizations promoting good citizenship, social responsibility and community
quality of life - Organizations dedicated to alleviating community social problems such as
emergency shelters, addictions programs, youth services etc.
Education
We contribute to communities that encourage and foster an environment of continuous learning to help people of all ages reach their potential.
Typical eligible funding requests come from:
- Universities, community colleges, technical colleges and school systems,
particularly supporting students and schools in disadvantaged or high-risk
communities
Sponsorship
We support the pursuit of artistic initiatives to offer access to the arts, particularly combined with education, which increase quality of life in the community.
Typical eligible funding requests come from:
- Community-based environmental initiative program proposals
- Professional and amateur endeavours in the performing and visual arts
We also consider funding requests on a discretionary basis, pending that such a request is compatible with AltaGas' Corporate Donations Policy.
